Social Enterprise Institute, Social Shifters

About the project

The SEI team brought me in to help with their brand new digital. Working closely with the teams in Glasgow and Nova Scotia, we discussed the membership model and scoped out initial stages.

I brought UI designer Kieron Scott on board to expedite the branding aspect and to design UI templates for the dev team in Nova Scotia.

The process

After an initial meeting with the CEO Jon and Head of Brand & Digital David, I suggested we decided to do a workshop with the wider team and with some current members/users. 

These scoping workshops helped the team to identify what was important, and what they wanted this new platform to be. It posed a lot of questions, which was good for the team to face early on in the process. The project was then broken into phases/sprints to allow the small development and content team to attack the prioritised features first.

The platform is constantly evolving and reacting to feedback generated from the user base.


The Social Enterprise team are quite but what they lack in size, they make up for in quality. Our project team looked like this;

We engaged Michael this year to help us develop our new platform Social Shifters – a revolutionary digital space for social entrepreneurs. Mick was involved in our project scoping from day one. His UX experience and insight added significant value and ultimately helped us to shape a product that’s now making a big splash globally. Now as one of our extended project team, he continues to play a pivotal role in the evolution of our platform
